More Baby Bonus

September 20th, 2007 · No Comments

Another bloody genius. Family First senator, Steve Fielding, has proposed a new baby bonus bonus. His suggestion is a $10,000 bumper handout for the third child. The senator has dismissed concerns regarding people having kids for the cash, saying:

I don’t believe that is what is happening on the whole. For sure it is probably happening in small numbers but really when we start saying that about people, then I think we have a poorer Australia

He also made comments regarding our need for a new generation of taxpayers:

We need to have kids. If we don’t have kids then when we are all old we have no-one paying taxes to support us

If we want to encourage taxpayers to procreate, how about changing this ‘bonus’ to a ‘tax refund’ instead? Give it to working families. This way those who work for a living and bring up children with the basic values of ‘You want something, you earn it’ rather than ‘you want something you are entitled to a handout’.

Surely there is enough strain on the department of public housing as it is without giving more incentive for bigger unemployed families. How many stories have we seen regarding too many kids, and complaints about the house being to small for the family?

The government should be encouraging working people to have kids, while at the same time encouraging the unemployed to get a job which would then entitle them to these additional benefits.

There should be a limit on the number of children should be having, or at least receiving benefits for. We are told of the strain on the environment, which will only be made worse by overcrowding the country with the unemployable scum being encouraged by these ridiculous schemes.

I can just picture the breeders now. Rubbing their hands together at the thought of a lump sum of money they should not normally hold in their entire lives
