The Ghetto of Albury

January 17th, 2008 · No Comments

Glenroy has always been Albury’s ghetto, but now residents have apparently had enough. Residents have approached the local MP, Greg Aplin, in order to overcome the situation, and hopefully have troublemakers evicted. Greg stated:

These juveniles are not learning respect, they’re not learning acceptable behavior and they will be embarking on a cycle, unfortunately, of a criminal lifestyle.

This is what happens when ferals go unpunished because they are ‘too young’ or they’ve only broken the law 7 times…

I’m sure if enough pressure is placed in the right places, the ferals will be evicted, however I don’t doubt that they will simply be moved into another area controlled by the department of housing, thus moving the problem to another community. I suppose this buys the department time, while the new area put up with the issues, get the shits with the issues, and then complain very loudly about the issues.

I don’t doubt that some of the complainants are breeders etc, but with the whole ‘integrate them into society’ bullshit that seems to be the nations solution to ferals, the noise, violence and language etc will be spilling out to the areas surrounding Glenroy disrupting home owners and rate payers as well.

The police have suggested :

We try and keep our patrols in that area as consistent as we can.

Members of the public have just got to contact us if they have any problems or issues related to any crime.

From previous reports in the border mail, the police are so under resourced, that it could take an hour or so before they actually get there.

Glenroy has been a ghetto for years. Why would it change now?
